Laying cable in Crewe before the war. Hand-cart and wheelbarrow for transport. Notice the mobile compound boiler on the left.

The houses are still exactly the same today except for replacement plastic windows and TV aerials and dishes.

The corner shop on the right has now been converted to a home.
